More than a walking tour
What makes makes Context New York different from a traditional walking tour company--what, in fact, has prompted some to claim that we've redefined how cities are interpreted and understood--are the seminar-like quality of our New York walking tours and the exceptional scholars who lead them. Our docents include professors, graduate students, and such professionals as architects, journalists, artists, and art restorers. Many teach in universities, or are graduate students on research grants, or write for major publications, or direct archaeological digs or .... They imbue our programs with a bright, creative energy; and approach the material--whether it's a gallery, a building, or life in the city itself--with an open, questioning perspective that creates an atmosphere of learning and exploration.
Context New York walking seminars are divided into two types: small-group walks that run on a regular, daily schedule and for which we sell spaces on a per-person basis and private walks designed around the needs and interests of an individual or individual group.
Finally, all our walking seminars are designed with care and sensitivity to the city, the scholarship of our docents, and the impact of tourism on what makes New York so unique. Our programs, while never pedantic or dry, are intended to be learning experiences that impart to our clients a love and respect for New York and all that it means.
